MG A 1600 Roadster – 1960
Fully Restored – ASI “Targa Oro” Certified

This outstanding 1960 MG A 1600 Roadster was originally sold new in the United States and registered in the State of California.

It was imported into Italy in the early 2000s, where it underwent a full and meticulous restoration by expert craftsmen.

In 2005, it was registered to its first and only Italian owner and became part of a prestigious collection of classic British cars.

The high-quality restoration involved every component of the vehicle—mechanics, electrical system, bodywork, interior, and chrome detailing—using only original parts.

In 2006, it earned the coveted ASI “Targa Oro” certification, awarded to vehicles restored in strict accordance with original specifications.

To enhance drivability and reliability, the car has been fitted with a supplementary electric cooling fan, KONI telescopic rear shock absorbers (replacing the original lever-arm units), 72-spoke chrome wire wheels and wider tires for better grip.

A chrome luggage rack has also been installed to carry additional bags during longer trips.

Always stored with care and used sparingly within the collection, it has covered very few miles since restoration and is in immaculate condition throughout.

Technical Overview – MG A 1600 Roadster

The MG A 1600 represents the second generation of this iconic British roadster.

Compared to the earlier MGA 1500, the 1600 series offers significant improvements in both performance and safety:

Engine: 1,588 cc inline 4-cylinder, producing around 80 hp, with a top speed close to 100 mph (160 km/h).
Transmission: 4-speed manual gearbox.
Brakes: upgraded front disc brakes for more effective and reliable stopping power.
Chassis and suspension: ladder-type chassis with independent front suspension and live rear axle.
Design: timeless flowing lines, faired-in headlights, and a low windshield—classic features of 1960s British roadsters.
